Few hours after Governor Nasir el-Rufai challenged the National Assembly members to follow his example and publish their pay in a bid to justify his allegations that the federal lawmakers were spendthrifts, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, has released the details of his October, 2016 to March 2017, six months, salaries.
Dogara’s pay slip, shown above, shows that his total pay per month is N402,530.37, but his net salary after deductions after tax tallies stands at N346,577.87.
His basic salary is N206,425.83; Constituency, N175,461.96; and Recess, N20,642.58.
Pushing their earlier accusation, the lower chamber of the National Assembly flayed el-Rufai of being clever by half by publishing the “security budget of the Kaduna State Government”, which was different from the “security vote of the governor”
This, according to the Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Mr. Abdulrazak Namdas, is the point at issue. He again challenged at el-Rufai to publish his security vote, not the funds budgeted for security projects by the state government.
