The South West arm of the Hope Democratic Party (HDP) which comprises of chapters in Lagos, Ekiti, Osun, Ogun, Ondo and Oyo, on Monday passed a vote of confidence in its National Chairman and Presidential Candidate in the 2019 general elections, Chief Ambrose Owuru and endorsed the legal action which he filed at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja.
The Southwest HDP at the completion of the party’s emergency meeting, held in Osogbo, Osun State capital said the geo-political zone expressed confidence and endorsed the legal action instituted against the election of President Muhammadu Buhari by the Presidential Candidate of her party Chief Ambrose Owuru.
The statement, which was jointly signed by the following states Chairmen of HDP Chapters, Alh. Oseni from Lagos State, Wole Adedoyin from Osun State, Ayodele Ojo from Ondo State, Waheed Oyewole from Oyo State and Hon. Ilesanmi Omolayo from Ekiti State affirmed the expulsion of Haruna Shaba, a former national vice chairman of the party who also doubles as its vice presidential candidate in the just concluded 2019 general elections.
It will be recalled that Alhaji Haruna Yahaya-Shaba disowned the legal action pending in the election petition tribunal as published by some national daily newspapers.
They said Alhaji Haruna Yahaya-Shaba has however been expelled on charges bordering anti-party, financial misconduct. “Shaba’s expulsion letter was dated 10th of May 2019 which was conveyed to him through the medium of his Kaduna Chapter’s Chairman. They described “Alhaji Haruna Yahaya-Shaba’s action as unconstitutional and fraudulent.”
HDP Chairmen however lauded the legal action instituted on behalf of Chief Ambrose Owuru and the party, which sought an order restraining Buhari from presenting himself on May 29 or any other date for inauguration or taking of oath of allegiance and oath of office as President.
