Ekwunife, Andy Ubah, Ifeanyi Ubah, Jostle For Anambra APC Gov. ticket

The Anambra Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has become the darling of governorship aspirants from other political parties with Senator Andy Ubah, Ifeanyi Ubah and Senator Uche Ekwunife, jostling for the party ticket in the coming elections in the first quarter of the year.

Andy Ubah was a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator before he ran into trouble with party big wigs that truncated his ambition. Ifeanyi Ubah was Labour Party candidate in the elections held in 2013, while Ekwunife had moved from the PDP to the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, without success in the 2013 poll.

They will join other known aspirants such as Chief George Muoghalu, Chief Barth Nwibe, Mr Obinna Okonkwo and Chief Paul Chukwuma and Dr Chike Obidigbo, Chief Raph Okeke, Chief Tony Nwoye, Sen. Uche Ekwunife, Chief Obinna Uzor and Prince Donatus Okonkwo.

While disclosing this information to journalists in Awka, state capital, this afternoon, Chairman of the party in the state, Mr. Emeka Ibe, said that there would be no automatic ticket for any aspirant, adding that they would all participate in the state`s primaries to emerge as candidate for the election.

He said: “We will give all aspirants equal playing ground. There is no special interest in any aspirant.

“We will hold transparent primaries for them because they are all qualified to unseat Gov. Willie Obiano.

“Any of them who emerges as our candidate in the state is capable of removing Obiano from office,’’

He further said there would be no zoning formula in determining the emergence of candidates, stressing that every member of the party were equal joiners and members. The only draw back, he said, would be if any aspirant had a criminal record, otherwise anybody can contest the party ticket.
