Senate Document Faults Buhari On Babachir

President Buhari’s claim in his letter to the Senate seeking the clearance of Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Babachir Lawal over corruption allegations, has been shredded by a document of the Upper Chamber.

Buhari’s claim that only three out of the nine members signed the report of the Senate Ad-Hoc Committee on Humanitarian Crisis in the Northeast has been faulted by the report showing six signatures rather than three.

Three members, according to Buhari formed no quorum and Babachir was not giving fair hearing. This had drawn the ere of Senator Shehu Sani, Chairman of the Committee who discredited the claim after the President’s letter was read on the floor of the Senate

Vanguard Newspaper has published the entire document showing the names of those who signed and those that did not. According to the newspaper, four other Senators including Sani, signed the document, contrary to Buhari’s declaration.

They are Senators Ben Murray-Bruce, Tayo Alasoadura and Mallam Ali Wakili. The only three who did not sign the report are Senators Theodore Orji, Oluremi Tinubu and Mohammed Hassan.

The signatories confirm to the paper that they signed the report.
