Royal Father Decries High Rate of Armed Robbery

The traditional ruler of Ogomo Pengana Chiefdom in Bassa Local Government, His Royal Highness, Isau Mamman Shayang has appealed to security personnel to increase the checkpoints in his domain to curb the menace of an robbery syndicate ravaging the communities in the area.

Shayang stated this at his palace in Jingre during the occasion to mark his anniversary.

The ruler who reminisce on the past events  since January13, 2017 when he ascended the throne thanked the people of the different ethnic groups under Pengana chiefdom for their overwhelming support and disclosed that as a seasoned administrator he has been using his wealth of experience to ensure peaceful co-existence among the people.

He said: ”We have achieve peaceful coexistence which the present government of Governor Simon Bako Lalong is preaching ,we are trying to see where everybody leave in peace. Though we all agree to leave in peace. there are those who are bent on causing havoc and confusion either on high way or in people houses .The presence of security personnel is very vital because we need to curb the menace of an armed robbery syndicate involved in open house to house stealing .

” We appeal to government to introduce measure in the night to help block the Jingre, Amor Katako roads where this dastardly act often takes place, we appeal to the youths around Fuska Mataa and Santa to support the security patrol team to reduce crime and criminality in the area.”

He stated that though the chiefdom has a   vigilance group which helps in patrolling the area, there is still need for security personnel because the group is not receiving help and sufficient cooperation which scare to move around.

Stating that two members of the group were brutally murdered recently by armed robbers around Zabolo while on night watch, he decried that lack of funds to pay Local Government workers under the present Management Committee Chairmen and urged government to look seriously into agitation of autonomy for local governments to enable them perform their role as the closest government to the grassroots.
