Ekpo Okemini, Umuahia
The mother of the President of Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association International and renowned miracle worker, the Rev (Dr) Uma Ukpai, Nma Ojeka Uma Ukpai is dead.
Nma Ukwu (grandma) as she was fondly called, died in her late 90s during a brief illness at her country home, Asaga Ohafia, in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State.
Her faith in Christ was tested when three members of the reverend’s family died when their vehicle plunged into a river along Umuahia-Abam- Ohafia road on a rainy day in the early 80s.
Even in the face of the calamity, she encouraged her son, who was at that moment holding a city-wide crusade in one of the eastern states, to remain steadfast in his calling.
Nma, who was honoured by many groups and organizations during her lifetime for her virtues, was the oldest female member of her maiden home, Ndi Awa Odo Compound.
On a visit to both her country and median home, Thisage observed sympathizers in groups speaking in low tones just as they also expressed appreciation to God for sparing her life that long.
One daughter survives her, three sons including the reverend, a son and daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great grand children and numerous other relatives.
Her burial date is yet to be fixed.
Married to the late, Nna Uma Ukpai (Snr), of Ndi Ekere Compound, she was until her death a pioneer and devout member of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in the community.
