Few hours after the Commission of Police, Lagos Command, Mr Fatai Oweseni told journalists of the recovery of the body of Dr Allwell Orji, who jumped into the lagoon on Sunday, in Lagos, mother of the deceased has said the body is not her son’s.
She was called over by the police to identify the body and she reportedly shook her head and said no.
SP Dolapo Badmos, spokesperson of Zone 2 of the Command confirmed it.
He said, “The mother has come to identify the body recovered, but she said the deceased was not her son.”
Earlier, the Owoseni had said the Marine Police at Onikan, Lagos, recovered the body.
Dr. Orji was on his way to Victoria Island, Lagos, to attend the meeting of his association, the Medical and Dental Association of Nigeria when he reportedly told his driver to park the car when they got to a spot on the Third Mainland bridge, then opened the door of his SUV and took a the fatal plunge into the river.
Meanwhile, the police have detained his driver for questioning. The mother’s rejection of the find has added another twist to the sad tale.
