The Nigeria Police have arrested one of the suspected kidnappers of the younger brother of the member representing Aba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Ossy Prestige.
He was paraded along with 21 others arrested for various alleged crimes by the police at the State Police Command Headquarters, along Bende Road in Umuahia, the state capital.
Speaking while parading the suspects, the state Commissioner of Police, Leye Oyebade said they had all confessed to the crimes, adding that they also mentioned the names of their accomplices.
Oyebade, who said the suspects would soon be arraigned before courts, stated that efforts were in top gear to arrest the accomplices.
According to him, the suspects had been involved in armed robbery, car snatching, illegal procession of arms and ammunitions, cultism, impersonation, and kidnapping.
The police chief said the command was pressing on with the execution of its anti-crime strategies to make the state crime free and safe for its inhabitants.
He said: “These measures which are mainly proactive are intended to nip crimes in the bud by being steps ahead of the perpetrators of crime.”
