The Nigeria Police, Lagos State Command, has confirmed that the driver to late Allwell Orji, the doctor who jumped into the lagoon on Sunday is being held for questioning.
State Police Public Relations Officer, Olarinde Famous-Cole, while confirming the detention, said, “the driver was taken for questioning and not arrested. It is normal as investigation is still ongoing”
The Police however debunked claims that Dr. Orji left a suicide note.
Authorities at Mount Sinai Hospital, Surulere, Lagos, where the late Allwell worked until that fateful Sunday, when he took the fatal plunge into the river after he had reportedly ordered his driver to park the SUV car on the bridge while on their way home, have kept sealed leaps on the incident. His family has also done the same. Meanwhile, rescue operations being conducted by the NEMA alongside local fishermen, began on Sunday, is still ongoing.
