CAN Condemns Attack, Group Says Government is Unconcerned

The Plateau State Command of the Nigerian Police has said they are on trail of the syndicates who went on rampage in Northern Senatorial District of the state, killing innocent citizens in their farmland, homes and market places.
Tyopev Terna, the PPRO who confirmed the incidents said the police received a call from a citizen who reported an attack that left five persons dead while mining in Barkin Ladi LGA of the state.
He said the distress call stated that unknown gunmen shot some people in Nding Suisut Village of Barkin Ladi LGA.
According to him, armed police personnel were immediately dispatched to the area and on their arrival at the scene of crime they found four (4) persons were seen with gun shot wounds.
They were then taken to the General Hospital, Barkin Ladi where the doctor on duty confirmed two (2) out of the four (4) victims dead. The two others are currently on admission in the same hospital and in a stable condition.
He said the family members of those who lost their lives declined autopsy and the corpses were released to them for burial.
Investigation, according to him, is in progress.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the North chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Rev Yakubu Pam has condemned the dastardly act and called for the arrest of the gunmen
Rev Pam in a statement said the gunmen were said to have escaped from the scene of the attack after killing their victims at Tin mining site on Wednesday afternoon.
Pam regretted that the way and manner the local miners were shot dead at Tin mining site of Razat Community of Kwock, Ropp district of the restive council should be condemned by all peace loving people of the state .
” Let me tell you that there is no resting place for the wicked, these evil men would definitely be caught by the law enforcement personnel very soon.”
He added that the killers of Gyang, Jillim, Lamba, David and a woman by name Rebeca at the Tin mining site of Razat must be brought to justice so that other merchants of death planning such heinous crime against humanity be deterred from committing such crimes in any part of the state.

Also, a group under the aegis of United Arewa Youth Organization condemned what it called” the carnage that has continued to ravage the north, particularly with reference to Plateau State in the guise of herders/farmers conflict and any other colourations associated with it.
In a press statement, Dindam Isaac Laven, Chairman of U.A.Y.O, said the government should seat up, saying; “ although, many hold the view that the crisis as it is today predates the government of the day, we beg to differ for the following reasons;
“The efforts of previous governments have seen Plateau State come out of its crisis and endure in relatively stable peace. However, these gains have not been consolidated upon, which is the obvious reason why we have a relapse in the improved security situation in the state.
As a matter of fact reaching an all time low so much so that mass exodus from target communities and mass burials in affected communities are now common sight. This is unacceptable.
What is more worrisome is the fact that, while Plateau State was burning under the hostile fire of enemies of the state, the governors demeanor and disposition on issues relating to the crisis continues to give us a cause to worry.
