Plateau Commercialises Waste Management

The Commissioner for Environment, Plateau State, Hon Abdullahi Abbas has said that the government would soon begin the process to commercialise waste management and charging its citizens be ready to pay a token amount for the evacuation of refuse from their communities.

Abbas who made the statement during the interaction between his Ministry and stakeholders on the need to manage and commercialise waste management, held at the ministry of information, solicited the cooperation of stakeholders on how to partner with the private sector in boosting the waste product for efficient management.

Abbas sued for cooperation between traditional rulers and private own company to create synergy towards managing waste

in Jos and Bukuru metropolis before its extension to other local governments of the state.

He said that the transformation 3.5 trillion tons of waste management into money spinning business remain cardinal to the development of the state, adding that the government was inspired to make the move in a bid to give emphasise to public and environmental health issues to secure the life of its citizenry
