Obasanjo Meets Buhari, Avoids Eye Contact

Pix 1 President Buhari and Obasanjo

President Muhammadu Buhari and ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo met for the first time in Addis Ababa, where a summit of African leaders is ongoing, a few days after the former President issued a press statement, appealing to Buhari not to seek re-election in 2019 on account of the failure of his government.

In reply, the government spokesman, Lai Mohammed, Information and Culture Minister, said Obasanjo was too busy to take notice of the giant strides recorded by the Buhari’s administration in the economy. Nonetheless, the ripples generated by Obasanjo’s letter, coming at a time when contentious issues such as restructuring, herdsmen/ farmers violent clashes, Mainagate and economic hardship have been prevailing in the country, has polarised the polity and is causing realignment of forces towards the 2019 general elections. What are the picture saying? The first is a Close-up in which the ex-grips the current, avoiding each other’s eyes. The second?  Well, contains some smiles? And with the third, some relaxation and then they exhale!
