NSE Market Indicators Regains’ Momentum With 0.25 Percent Increase

Trading on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Friday August 11, 2017 witnessed a turnaround from the decrease on Thursday as the key market indicators regains its momentums with 0.25 increase, bringing the year to date return to 42.14 percent.

However, Unilever Nigeria Plc that is currently seeking over N58 Billion from existing shareholders through right issue, topped the gainers table for the second trading days in the week, just like what was witnessed in the case of Guinness Nigeria Plc during the week.

On the market activities, the All Share Index closed at 38,198.60 against the previous close of 38,102.85 while Market Capitalization closed at N13.166 trillion against previous close of N13.133 trillion.

Volume traded decreased by 2.49 percent from 362.671 million to 353.645 million, while the total value of stock traded increased by 12.58 percent from N5.597 billion to N6.301 billion in 4,079 deals.

The Financial Services sector led the activity chart with 313.552 million shares exchanged for N5.057 billion. Consumer Goods came next with 21.642 million shares traded for N0.943 billion, Conglomerates, Services, Oil And Gas sectors followed in that order on the activity chart.

Guaranty Trust Bank Plc,, United Bank For Africa Plc, Zenith Bank Plc, Access Bank Plc and Fidelity Bank Plc were the most active stocks by volume.

Unilever Nigeria Plc, Lafarge Africa Plc formally (Wapco), Oando Plc, Custodian & Allied Insurance Plc, and United Bank for Africa Plc emerged the highest price gainers.

C&I Leasing Plc, HoneyWell Flour Mills Plc, Conoil Plc, Unity Bank Plc and Learn Africa Plc topped the loser’s table. A total of 95 companies shares were traded, with 19 gainers and 29 losers, while 47 stock prices remained unchanged at the close of business on Friday.
