NSCDC Sets Up Committee To Investigate Shooting Incident

 

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Abdullahi Gana Mohammadu has expressed regrets over the shooting incident that occurred at one of the beats, where personnel of the Corps were deployed to protect the infrastructure of the Lagos Deep shore, offshore logistics.

The Corps boss stated this during a briefing of the Management team of the Corps, at the Headquarters, Abuja.

According to him the ugly incident occurred as a result of an accidental discharge by a personnel of Corps, which led to the death of staff and a Korean who is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

While commiserating with the family of the deceased and the injured, Gana warned against  such act of negligence and carelessness in the future

He stressed that a committee has been set up to investigate the remote causes of the incident and assured the public that adequate punitive action would be taken against the officer involved to serve as a deterrent to other personnel, adding that the officer involved has already been stripped of his arms and is currently under detention pending the outcome of the report of the committee.
