The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has nabbed three persons for vandalising and stealing six transformers belonging to the Jos Electricity Distribution Company, along Zaria Road, Jos, capital of Plateau State .
The Commandant General of the Corps, Mr Abdullahi Muhammadu disclosed this to our correspondent in Jos on Monday .
He said he has issued directive for the prosecution of the three members of the syndicate who specialised mostly in stealing and vandalising equipments, involved in illegally mining of solid mineral in the state
He said the NSCDC would intensify all efforts to checkmate activities of economic saboteurs who are selling fuel above the normal prices, adding that the state Commandant, Solomon Olasupo was up to the task in leading the fight against the syndicates
Muhammadu explained further that those caught will soon to be taken to court to face prosecution to put an end to illegal mining.
He reminded those who are hoarding fuel or engaged in black market deals on the product that economic sabotage is a punishable offence under the Nigerian law .
The Commandant General revealed that staff the corps are well prepare to embark on thorough prosecution of illegal miners so as to improve the revenue base of the country.
