New Councils In Plateau: Berom Traditional Council Gets Interim Injunction Restraining Lalong

The Berom Traditional Council has obtained an interim and mandatory injunction orders restraining the Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong , Attorney General of Plateau State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and the Chairman of Jos North Local Government Council ,The Chairman, Riyom Local Government Council as defendants from carrying out any action against the stool of Gbong Gwom Jos.

The Plaintiffs /Applicants counsel, Barr Niri .I. Darong, Esq., explained that the following; Mr Simon Pam Karak , Da Daniel Choji ,CSP Yusuf Fwom rtd ,Da Chuwang Rin Gyang , Da Lois Gambo and Ezekiel Kwon are the plaintiffs in the suit with No PLD/1257mi/2019

The injunction dated 22 day of May, 2019 was filed on the same day with accompanying affidavit of 22 paragraphs and 6 exhibits annexed thereto deposed to by one Da Daniel Chojl of Dong, Kabong District, Jos North L.G.A. praying the Court for an order of interim injunction and mandatory injunction to stop the Plateau state government from embarking on redefining the position of the Gbong Gwom Jos.

After the hearing, N.I. Darong, Esq., of Counsel, for the Plaintiffs/Applicants stated that

“the defendants by their agents, representatives or privies are restrained from tampering with the composition of the 305 Joint Traditional Council including suspending or deposing any member of the Joint Traditional Council, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.

“The defendants are mandated to continue to recognize the Gbong Gwom Jos as the President of the Jos Joint Traditional Council made up of 305 North, 105 South, Barkin Ladi and Riyom Local

The return date for the motion on notice is the 11‘” day of June, 2019 for hearing.
