NDE Empowers  200 Unemployed Youths In Kogi With N2m Loan

The National Directorate of Employment has disbursed Two Million Naira as loan to 200 yoths at Ajaka in Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area of Kogi State under the Micro Enterprises Enhancement Scheme.

The disbursement which was facilitated by a Board Member, Hon.  Aliu Ugbane have farmers, traders and artisans selected from Ofu, Igalamela and Idah Loccal Government Areas of Kogi East Senatorial District as beneficiaries.

Each of the recipients received N10,000.00 to enable them enhance their enterprises

In his welcome address, the Kogi State Coordinator of NDE, Mallam Zakari Abubakar reiterated the commitment of the Directorate to create jobs for the teaming unemployed persons.

He said that the NDE has just recruited about 290 unemployed youths into the programe this year in Kogi State under her agricultural, vocational skills, small scale enterprises and Special Public Works Programme(s)

He announced that (Kogi State) have also commenced the process of recruiting additional 1,000 unemployed youths and women into vocational skills programme within the next one week.

In his goodwill message, the Administrator of Ofu Local Government Area,  Hon Patrick Onogwu,  thanked the NDE and the Federal Government for their efforts in combating unemployment and sort for areas of collaboration to address the menace of unemployment which is prevalent among youths of these days.

Chief Yusuf Gbatigbi, representing the Etemahi who is the President of Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area Traditional Council, Chief Abel Etuh, enjoined the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the loan and repay it back as at when due to enable others to benefit.

In his keynote address, the Director General of NDE, Dr. Nashiru Ladan Arugungu who was represented by the Board Member, Hon Aliu Ugbane said that the present administration of President Muhammed Buhari is poised to deliver on her campaign promises to create jobs for our teaming unemployed persons.

He said that this particular intervention programme targets the poor and vulnerable persons who engage in Micro Enterprise that require little start-up capital or expand an existing one.

He thanked the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and his Chief of Staff, Chief Edward Onoja for nominating him for appointment into the board of NDE and promise to use his influence there to attract more of NDE programmes to the state,

Responding on-behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Mariam Jumai Aruwa thanked the Federal Government and NDE for the loan package which is being disbursed during this Ramadan which is the peak period of their own businesses.

She promised on-behalf of the other beneficiaries to make judicious use of the loan and to repay it to enable others to benefit.
