MOUAU Student Arrested For Alleged Murder Of Tricyclist

Police have arrested one Chinonso David Ibekwe, a 200 level Computer Science student of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) for alleged murder of a septuagenarian tricycle operator.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Leye Oyebade stated this in an interview with our correspondent his office at the command’s headquarters in Umuahia, the state capital.

He said the suspect, who is 25 years old and from Ndiotu Ntalakwu in Bende Local Government Area of the state had been charged to the court and remanded in prison custody.

According to him, the suspect gave lead towards the recovery of the decomposing body of the deceased in a ditch at Amuzukwu in Umuahia North Local Government Area.

The commissioner said, “He has however, confessed to the crime, while the decomposing body of the deceased has been deposited in the morgue for preservation and autopsy.”

The victim, Mr. Peter Alebuonu Eseonu of Ekenaobizi Umuopara in Umuahia South Local Government Area of the state had earlier been declared missing by the Police Command in Abia State.
