Concerned about the plight of the students and workers of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology,( LAUTECH) Ogbomoso ,the Oyo State House of Assembly has called on Governors Abiola Ajimobi and Rauf Aregbesola of Oyo and Osun states respectively to urgently address the issue of salaries arrears so as to prevent another strike.
LAUTECH is a university jointly owned by Oyo and Osun States.
Deliberating on the issue brought up by member representing Ogbomoso North constituency, Hon. Wumi Oladeji, as matter of urgent public importance, the House, advised the two owner state governments to clear some of the outstanding salaries of LAUTECH staff.
Mrs.Oladeji prayed that the outstanding salaries had accumulated to seven and a half months and amounted to a breach of agreement between the Academic staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the university management.
Aside from the issue of salaries arrears, Oladeji had also called on the technical committee examining the visitation panel report to come out with its findings and recommendations.
The Assembly mandated its Committee on Education, Science and Technology, to meet with relevant stakeholders and report its findings to the Assembly next week.
