Lar Canvasses Anti-Grazing Law To Stop Herders/ Farmers Clashes

The member representing Langtang North /South at the House of Representatives, Hon Beni Butmak Lar has frowned at the incessant killing of innocent lives in Plateau State and called for the review of the laws governing Operation Safe Heaven (STF).

She also drummed support for an anti- grazing law which would prevent herders from openly grazing on farmland and destroying crops to avoid clashes between farmers and herders in Nigeria.

She condemned as barbaric and inhuman the killing of innocent citizens in some communities in the state.

Addressing journalists at the People Democratic Party state secretariat on Friday, Hon Lar condemned the  killings of defenceless civilians and called on the government to investigate the matter, with focus on the operations of the security agencies

She applauded Governor Simon Bako Lalong for working hard to involve the stakeholders in solving the crisis with the assurance that the perpetrators would be apprehended and prosecuted.

While appealing to the people to remain vigilant and ensure that “the enemies working hard do not bring division among us fail”, she disclosed that three Representatives have moved a motion on the floor of the house that the federal government should review the laws governing Operation Safe Heaven in the state.
