Lagos: Group Raises The Alarm Over Activities Of Cult Groups

Save Lagos Group, a Non-Governmental Organization, has raised the alarm over the activities of other cult groups similar to that of ‘Bardoo’ , which wrecked havoc recently on lives and property in the Ikorordu axis of the state.

Apart from ‘Badoo’, the Save Lagos Group also listed other cult groups terrorizing the state to include, Awawa Group, 99 Lions whom it said are
wrecking havoc in Oshodi and the Eiye Cult whom the group said are scattered across the state.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Convener of the Save Lagos Group (SLG), Comrade Adeniyi A. Sulaiman said the problem of insecurity in the area escalated when those who ought to have acted proactively failed in their responsibilities to protect the people.

Sulaiman stated that the group had initially written to alert the state government and traditional rulers in Ikorodu months before the ‘Badoo’ group mustered the courage to unleash mayhem in that area of the state and wondered why others groups with sinister motives were been being left unchecked.

He said: “We had initially written the state government and the traditional rulers in the area including the police on the rising spate of cultism before the problem could get out of hand but the only responses we got were evidences of the delivery of the letters to the affected people without any form of action. Now, we are all paying for it as nobody can sleep with his two eyes closed in Lagos anymore.”

According to the group, a letter dated Monday, October 24th, 2016 was sent to the commissioner of police in charge of the state while it received a reply in a letter with reference no, AD7000/LS/DFA/Vol.61/97, dated 31st of October, 2016 from Area N headquarters in Ijede.

“The letter was an invite, which we honored and we were received by an officer by name, Omoniyi who is a Superintendent of Police who was with the Area Commander, one Ahmed, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, who both promised to send signals to all the DPOs in the
division but up till now, nothing has been heard or done.”

He said the group wrote another letter to the paramount ruler of Ikorodu, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, dated Monday 30th of January 2017.

“The major content of the letter was to alert the monarch to his responsibilities but we have never got a response from him in the form of a mere acknowledgement.”

“We are calling on the concerned authorities to urgently roll up their sleeves to rescue the state from the scourge of insecurity to lives and property” he said
