Kogi First Lady Stresses Need For Early Antenatal Care

The Wife of Kogi State Governor, Hajia Rashidat Bello has called on pregnant women to give priority to early Antenatal care so as to ensure that both mother and unborn baby receive the necessary healthcare support.

She made the call when she paid a visit to the parents of the Triplets at DOATIM Medical Centre, Ponyan, Yagba East Local Government Area over the weekend.

The Governor`s Wife, represented by the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Dr. Folashade Arike Ayoade maintained that pregnancy by skilled health personnel ensures that both mother and unborn baby are well for safe delivery.

According to Hajia Rashidat , the “safe delivery of the two males and one female despite several complications by the mother calls for celebrations and the need to rally round the family”.

She advised the mother to feed well and go on exclusive breastfeeding as it has tremendous benefits for both the mother and babies.

The Wife of the Governor also promised that the parents will be empowered economically by the state Government to ensure that the infants get the necessary attention needed to mould them into healthy and responsible citizens of the State and the Country at large.

She thanked the Chief Medical Director, nurses of the Medical Centre and all those who played a part in ensuring that they were safe and in stable condition.

Speaking, the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Olalekan Olomo commended the Wife of the Governor for the visit and narrated that the patient suffered from multiple medical complications as a result of refusing to register for Antenatal care,

Dr. Olomo said he was grateful that God intervened in their delivery after rapid medical steps which saw both the mother and the triplets in stable condition and responding to treatment.

Earlier, the father of the triplets, Mr. Oloruntobi Toba expressed gratitude to the Wife of the Governor for her visits and donations and prayed that the Almighty God will reward her for putting smiles on their faces as well as giving them hope and courage.

Highlights of the visit were presentation of cans of baby food, clothing’s and other consumables to the family.
