Jos  Tense Over Vandalised Cars, Tricycles By Hoodlums

Residents of Bauchi Road in Jos North Locla Government Area of Plateau State woke up on Monday morning to see all over the place vandalised cars and tricycles said to be the handiwork of hoodlums. The hoodlums  were said to have carried out the destruction overnight during the Eid Sallah celebration.

According to the Chairman of Jos North Local Government Management Committee Chairman, James Nyam, the hoodlums, popularly known as yan Sara suka  stormed the vicinity at about 1:pm, beginning from Salisu Adamu junction to Layin danmaraya, Tudun fera and Congo Russia areas of the LGA, leaving over 150 vehicles destroyed.      

He said: “This morning tension was allover the place as security personnel were trying to control the situation by shooting sporadically into the air.”

He lamented that the Sallah celebration which had gone on peacefully was disrupted by the thugs and some miscreants who took advantage of the situation to attack innocent citizens, adding that the security personnel drafted to the scene had brought the disturbance under control and normalcy had return to the area. No arrest has been made and residents say they would sleep with one eye closed to avoid been taken unawares.
