Jobless Father, Displaced by Conflict Seeks N.5 For Surgery On Daughter

Father of a five-year old girl, Mr. Utume-Nor Aka from Wukari in Taraba state has cried out for financial assistance of N.5m to enable her undergo surgery for Ventral Hernia Post OP Omphaloceles.

Aka, who was accompanied by the daughter, Miss Mercy Aka made the plea yesterday at the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Abia state council, Umuahia, the state capital.

A medical report, signed by Dr. Oboko S.O. a consultant radiologist with Foremost Radiology Consultants Ltd, obtained by Thisage from the father confirmed the claim.

The unemployed father of two with an expectant wife said the family moved to the state for safety after they were displaced in Wukari Council Area due to communal clash.

Aka, a farmer, who said at the moment his family and himself are squatting with his in-laws from Cross River in Aba, added that the assistance had become urgent before her condition worsens.

“She hardly sleeps due to the pains. As her father, I feel most uncomfortable watching her go through this challenge. It is most unfortunate that we cannot afford the amount,” he said.

The report said, “The stomach (antral part), duodonum (1st part) and left lobe of the liver is seen herniating through the defect with thin membrane covering the herniated viscous.
