In appreciation of his installation of two second class chiefs in Wase Local Government on Tuesday, a local association has urged Governor Simon Lalong to run for Plateau South Senatorial Constituency at the expiration of his tenure in 2023, pledging to mobilize support for him.

The Chairman of the association, Ngwang Ishi Otarok (NIO), Wase LGA, Hon. Lohga Zinkat Baba made this promise while expressing confidence on the leadership of Lalong at the occasion of the installation and presentation of Second Class staff of office to Chief Lot Nden as Ponzhi Kadarko and Alh. Muhammad Tafida Asi II as Aku Mavo at the Council Secretariat of Wase Local Government.

He described Lalong as a great politician and as a grassroots mobilizer whose emancipation agenda would encourage peaceful coexistence among the citizens of the state.

“Lalong second tenure as governor has ended two decades of conflicts during which many lost their lives and properties to conflict, we believed he is a Messiah to do what others past leaders failed to do.

Consequently, it has been rumoured in some quarters that he would either go for the Plateau Southern Zone Senatorial seat or seek for nomination as Presidential running mate.

However, Hon. Zinkat noted that the installation and presentation of staff of office to Chief Lot Nden was the turning point in the history of Taroh Nation of Wase LGA because of the symbol of authority and identity it has received, stressing that the Taroh man now can go to sleep with his eyes closed. “As a matter of fact, your administration has done to us what no other administration has ever done.

“Indeed, you are the true rescuer of your people. The Taroh Nation of Wase is proud to be associated with you. Sir, we know to whom much is given, much is expected. “Therefore, the Taroh Nation has collectively and unanimously resolved to support you and your administration come 2023”, he said.

Meanwhile, Lalong during the presentation of office to the Ponzhi O Tarok, HRH Lot Nden and HRH Alh Muhammad T. Asi as Aku-Jukun of Mayo Chiefdom, charged them to continue to play a significant role in the peace, unity, progress and security of the State.

“With the Staffs of Office in your hands, you cease to be champions of one particular clan, tribe, denomination or religion. You are fathers to all that reside in your domains irrespective of where they come from.

“ Always remember that the traditional institution has played and will continue to play a significant role in the peace, unity, progress and security of Plateau State. These are the virtues we expect you to promote and uphold as we consolidate on the peaceful ambience we have worked hard to restore which is bringing back Plateau to its place as the Home of Peace and Tourism.

“We cannot afford to go back to the dark days of violence and insecurity. I have since read the riot act to all community leaders and traditional rulers to fully cooperate with relevant government establishments, security agencies and other stakeholders in fishing out criminals within their domains.

.”In line with this order, any community leader or traditional ruler who is unable to assist security agencies towards arresting criminals within his domain will be held to account.

“To the citizens of Kadarko and Mavo Chiefdoms, I urge you to cooperate and support Their Royal Highnesses so as to create the enabling environment for them to provide purposeful leadership for development.
