President Buhari with Governor of Benue, Mr Samuel Ortom at the State House in Abuja during the week.

The Northern Coordinator of Northern Nigeria Women Initiative (NNWI), Echor Charity has condemned as “barbaric the dastardly attacks and killings of innocent citizens in Benue, Taraba, Plateau and Nasarawa States by herdsmen.”

Charity in a press statement made available to our correspondent in Jos on Wednesday, said a situation where women, children and the aged were targeted and killed by yet to be identified “Fulani herdsmen”, was condemnable and must be investigated and stopped.

Charity said,”It is unfortunate that these attacks have led to the loss of lives, destruction of properties and foodstuff and the displacement of people from their ancestral homes.”

While expressing sympathy with Governor Ortom, the people of the state and his wife, the NNWI coordinator called on President Muhammadu Buhari to deplore all instruments within his power to ensure that the “perpetrators of these wicked acts are apprehended and are made to face the wrath of the law in its strictest form.”

She appealed to the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breaders Association to bring its erring members to order and come to the table of dialogue with other aggrieved parties to find solution to the lingering Herdsmen/ Farmers clashes in Benue and other affected states in the country.
