A Group under the aegis of “Concern for the Welfare of People” has called on the Federal and Kogi State governments to expedite action on the ongoing rehabilitation and construction of Ganaja road in Lokoja, the state capital before the rains sets in.

Recalled that the portion of the road between Ganaja village and Ganaja junction failed during last year’s rainfall bringing unspeakable hardship to motorists and residents.

Addressing Journalists in Lokoja yesterday, the president of the group, Ojekeli Sani explained that their argument is consequent upon the excruciating pains motorists and residents went through during the last rainfall, stressing that they won’t want a repeat occurrence this year.

He urged the federal and state governments to expedite action to fix the road linking Ganaja and Ganaja junction in the State capital in good time.

Ojekeli Sani said that, the deplorable state of the road which llinks Ganaja junction to Kogi East, South East and South South demanded urgent attention pointing out that, the bad condition of the road has led to economic losses and untold hardship on motorists and commuters who spent hours on the road due to its deplorable condition.

“Am worried that as the 2021 raining season approaches, it reminds us of the harrowing experiences that motorists and commuters go through every year on the road.

”Of particular note is the Ganaja/Ganaja Junction portion of the road, the deplorable condition of the road has encouraged economic waste lost

“And if rehabilitation work is not carried out on this portion of the road before the rain sets in, traveling would be a nightmare,” Ojekeli said.
