Govt Directs ABSU To Fast Track Aba Campus

The management of the Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU) has been directed to fast track the establishment of the proposed Aba Campus of the University at Osisioma Ngwa without further delay.
Ikpeazu stated this when he received a delegation of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) Diocese of Aba led by the Bishop, Rt. Rev. Chiodoadighi Christian Ugwuzor at the Governor’s Lodge Aba.
Explaining that the campus is expected to take off fully by the end of this year, he added that the Pharmacy  and Engineering Departments will form its nucleus.
He said the government will consider their request to hand back Hospital Road Primary School, Aba to the church after studying the report of the Technical Committee of the Ministry of Education on it.
He made it clear that churches and faith based organizations are excellent school managers and his administration will not hesitate to hand back schools to any church that meets the laid down criteria.
His word: “I am a product of a school run by a church and I am a living testimony that churches are better managers of our schools especially when it comes to inculcating positive values in children”.
Speaking earlier, the Rev Ugwuzor, commended the governor for his plans and dreams for the development of the state, assuring him of their partnership with him to actualize them.
The clergyman used the forum to stress the importance of job creation for the teaming unemployed, conducive business environment, and security of lives and property across the state.
