Gombe Tragedy: Gana Sends Delegation to Gombe

The Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC, Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu has sent a high powered delegation to condole with the government and people of Gombe State over the death of members of Boys’ Brigade of ECWA Church, Bamusa, Barunde, Madaki, and St Peter’s Anglican Church in the State.

The incident which happened on Easter night during which a procession of Boys Brigade of the church was reportedly rammed into by a driver identified as an officer of the Corps following a misunderstanding, led to the death of 10 and injury of some who are receiving treatment in a hospital in the Northeast state. A Police Officer is also said to be involved.

According to a statement from the Abuja headquarters of the NSCDC, “Gana, who is away to attend to the International Civil Defence meeting abroad has ordered investigation into the tragedy and ordered the Commandant of the Corps in the state take necessary actions, pledging his readiness to personally handle the case on his return from his official trip.”
