Substitute Olivier Giroud headed in a dramatic late winner to keep Arsenal on top of the league table in the first opening game of the 2017-18 Premier League season.

Leicester, with a 3-2 goals ahead seven minutes to end of play, almost succeeded in re-enacting their 2016 miracle when the began the season with a surprising 4-2 victory over Sunderland and then kept the pressure to eventually lifted the EPL cup.

With goals from Shinji Okazaki, talisman Vardy who scored twice, the visitors almost ran away with victory at the Emirates Stadium but for the inspired move by Arsene Wenger, who brought in Giroud to complement the efforts of new man, Alexandre Lacazette, who opened scoring in the first two minutes, followed by Danny Welbeck and Danny Ramsey.

The game ended 4-3 to the delight of the fans at the Emirate Stadium, who were prepared to kick-start their failed bid to see Wenger’s back after last season’s failure of the team to lift the cup and qualify for the UEFA Championship.
