FG To Employ 350,000 Graduates In 2017

The Federal Government has unfolded plans under the N-Power Volunteer Corps to employ 350,000 unemployed graduates in 2017, the Special Assistant to Acting President Yemi Osinbajo on Media Publicity, Mr. Laolu Akande has said.

In a statement yesterday, Mr Akande said the Federal Government has requested appropriation of N157.75bn in the 2017 budget estimates for the N-Power scheme.

He said: “350,000 unemployed graduates more would be hired and trained, alongside 50,000 non-graduates youths to be engaged as artisans and in other creative ventures,”

Part of the N157.75bn totaling N4.5bn would go to science; technology, engineering and mathematics programs to support youths build skills in those core science subjects.

Other areas that would benefit from the FG program are the National Homegrown School Feeding Program and the Government Enterprises and Empowerment program for which N75bn and N122.2bn have been allocated respectively in the 2017 budget, according to Akande.
