EU Elections 2019: Major Parties Lose

Polls are now closed everywhere across Europe, reports the BBC

The projected results for the new European Parliament show significant losses for the two main groups, the centre-right European People’s Party and the centre-left Socialists and Democrats, although they remain the largest groups.

The Greens and Liberal groups have made gains, as well as the right-wing nationalist and populist groups.

The results for individual countries show a mixture of projected and official figures, and are subject to change as more results are declared.

In the United Kingdom, it looks like another bad night for both Labour and the Conservatives with the early results in.

Both parties have lost MEPs to The Brexit Party and the Liberal Democrats.
