Comrade Manji Emerges NLC Chairman, Plateau State Chapter

Comrade Eugene Manji, has emerged the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Plateau State Chapter, having scored a total of 221 votes to beat his closest rivals, Comrade Francis Izang who polled 151 votes to emerge second and Comrade Lohna Samson who polled a paltry 34 votes.

Manji is the Council Chairman of the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Service Employees (AUPCTRE), while Izang is of RATTAWU, Samson, NASU.

The state elective convention, which produced Manji was held at the Hill Station Hotels Conference Hall, Jos, the Plateau state capital during the week.

He would work with other members of the exco who were returned unopposed. They include Cmr. Samson Mafuyai – Vice Chairman, Cmr. Sunday Akinfolarin – Vice Chairman, Cmr. John S. Shirbe – Treasurer, Cmr. Ayuba Gana – Auditor, Cmr. Yushua Muhammed – Auditor, Cmr. Katherine Dung – Ex Officio and Cmr. Nelly Amamma James – Ex Officio.

407 delegates participated in the elective convention, which was adjudged free, fair and credible.

The newly elected Chairman who was immediately sworn in showed appreciation to the delegates for finding him worthy, promised to carry all along and pursue the welfare of members in a constructive manner.

He admonished members to accord the new exco support while urging his officers to be ready to work collectively during their tenure.

Cmr. Eugene is taking over from Cmr. Jibrin Bancir whose tenure expired and was appointed the Special Adviser to the Plateau State Governor on Labour Matters. Chief Comrade Gunshin Yarlings had acted as Chairman until the formal handing over.
