Clergyman Eyes Abia North Senate Seat

Nnaya Eziyi, Umuahia

Once again the founding and presiding Bishop of Christ Mandate Ministries, Dr. Jerry Eze has set his eyes on Abia North Senatorial District seat at the National Assembly.

Eze stated this to our correspondent after a reception organized by Nde Ohafia for Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in Elu Ohafia in Ohafia Local Government Area.

He said he wants to go the Red Chamber to change the narrative about the zone, adding that his ministerial background would be an added advantage to him.

“We need a voice in the Assembly that can make public the challenges of the zone and the people with a view to settling them,” said the proprietor of Christ Mandate Group of Schools.

Eze, who contested the seat on the platform of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), in 2011, said it was time his fellow ministers take interest in partisan politics.

According to the Sapele, Delta State-based bishop”We have it also as part of our mandate as clergymen to contribute our quota in making quality laws for our society.”

Although he was not specific about when he would make the formal declaration of the intention, he noted that if given the opportunity, he would change the face of the zone.

He expressed worry that over the years the zone had been lagging behind in both federal presence and infrastructure, saying correcting the anomaly would be his priority.

The propriety, who disclosed that he was party of the ACN team that negotiated with other parties to form the All Progressive Congress (APC), added that he had since parted way with it.

“My political structure which cut across the five local government areas in the zone has also been collapsed into the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),” he related.
