Civil Service Union To Promote Internal Democracy

The Nigeria Civil Service Union National organised a One Day retreat in Plateau State as part of activities to mark 100 years of its existence with a promise toward advancing the cause of its new framework on Labour Union relationship in the country.

  The National President of Nigeria Civil Service Union, Comrade Amaechi Lawrence Uchechukwu (JP) at the opening session of its leadership retreat maintained that, ” we shall practice internal democracy and try as much as possible to avoid being guilty of those wrongs we accuse the government and employers of doing “.

He lamented that the era of passing bulk or blaming each other must be over as an era of more united and prosperous Nigeria civil service Union is already on board.

“ As we discuss today on how to create our wealth, how to also manage it to realize our expectations for the future shall feature prominently.”

Speaking to our correspondent at the Hill Station Hotel Banquet hall on Thursday, the state chapter Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Jibrin Bancir said that Labour is being endangered by many factors making it necessary for the leaders to look inward on how to strengthen and diversifying the Union.

Comrade Bancir reiterated that the retreat is aimed at solving the many challenges facing civil servants with a holistic approach that can be implemented across the 36 States of Nigeria .

He stressed that the Labour Union in Plateau state will reciprocate the good gesture of Governor Simon Bako Lalong led administration for its prompt payment of workers salaries in the state.

Bancir charged the state chapter of the civil servants to perform optimally towards rendering qualitative service delivery to the general public as stimulant to citizens .

“We need this challenges to go back and deliver our service to the general public”. NLC according to him remain the only strong body that is standing to protect the workers and maintain the well-being of the society today”, he explained.

According to him , the Labour Union today in Nigeria are facing extinction to seek to end labour exploitation of workforce so the retreat is to set committee to meet up Union dispute .

The Nigeria Union National headquarters on quarterly meeting urged participants to be prepared to sustain efforts to consolidate on  rules, standards and selfless service delivery.
