Bayelsa Has No Money For Political Campaigns, Says Gov. Dickson

Gov Dickson

Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has said he would not fund any political campaign with public fund.

Speaking at a meeting with political appointees, leaders and candidates of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Yenogoa in his office on Sunday, Dickson said the money available to the state in for its development and not to fund campaign, advising those seeking any electoral office to be ready to pick the bills as part of the service demanded from elected representatives of the people.

He said: The government of Bayelsa has no money to fund elections. I wish to state without equivocation that the Restoration Government under my leadership is not in the business of funding elections… Bayelsa money must be spent on the development of Bayelsa’’, he said in a statement in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media Relations, Mr Fidelis Soriwe.

“Let it be known that Bayelsa is 100 per cent PDP. No state supported our candidate more than us during the primaries. It is not money… This is because money is not even enough for me to work with. But we made sure there was mobilisation and support for all our delegates and leaders of our state, so let the final outcome reflect that.”
