The Plateau state Deputy Speaker, Hon Saleh Shehu Yipmong has called on the police and other security agencies in the state to as a matter of urgency arrest and prosecute all political thugs who have always ceased the initiative and gone on rampage, destroying and maiming innocent people in the state.
The member representing Dengi constituency made the call following the recent killings during and after the recent electioneering campaign held in Kanam, Pankshin, Langtang and Kanke Local Governments in the state .
According to him “there is an urgent need to put a final stop on the destruction of lives and property and abstain from any form of partisanship of all our security heads whose under watchful eyes those miscreants gathered and heaped stones and sticks for their operations without any security check. This is a scandalous aspect of partisanship. As youths and leaders of our society we must act promptly and just to safeguard our future and the future of the unborn generation”.
“We must demand for the unmasking of the dark horses and the prophets of doom behind the destruction of our multi million Naira edifice, let there be an inquiry committee, as leaders and lawyers we must talk tough and come hard to correct the ill of the society, no doubt we will fail to be the lights in our little ways if we remain aloof in this situation and posterity will judge and point at us in bad light. It will be a serious tragedy if we allowed it to go unpunished”.
Yipmong urged all the youth councils in the state including KADA, Bogghom Development Association, Khimphi Development Association, JHAR Development Association, Nigeria Union Local Government Employee, NULGA, Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT and the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA to join hands to eliminate the scourge from the state .
