APC Mourns Victims of Lagos School Building Collapse

 

 

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed shock and sadness at Wednesday’s collapse of a building housing a school and residential units in Itafaaji area of Lagos State which led to several deaths and injuries, particularly among children.

“When we lose our loved ones, it is never easy, particularly when they are children lost to such horrific and avoidable building collapse,” the party said in a statement by its NationalPublicity Secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu.

“We sympathise with the families of the dead victims and pray for the speedy and full recovery of the injured. We also pray for the safe rescue of those still reportedly trapped in the collapsed building rubble,” he concluded

While commiserating with the government and people of Lagos state over the sad incident, the party said it was worried that the frequency of these building collapse and its attendant human casualties has become abnormal. It urged relevant regulatory authorities across the country to do all that is necessary to prevent a re-occurrence “of these avoidable building collapses.”
