The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has accused the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) of deliberately erasing the South East geopolitical zone from the political architecture of the country.

The president-general (PG) of the COSEYL, Mr. Goodluck Ibem stated this in an exclusive interview with Thisage in Umuahia, the Abia state capital, calling on the people of the zone to rise up against the move immediately.

His words, “The recent election of principal officers of the 9th National Assembly which excluded the South East geo-political zone is a declaration of political war against the zone and the people.”

Speaking further, the PG said by this action, the APC has told the zone point plank “that there are not qualified for any good thing from the party. They are not welcome so to speak.”

He argued that what played out at the Assembly was a continuation of how shops and businesses owed by the people of the zone were shut down in Lagos during the general election because they supported the opposition.

“This is indeed an aberration and a travesty of the Nigerian Constitution. The APC has turned the Constitution into a mere tissue paper used only when needed,” he said.

He added, “The actions of the APC against the South East is wicked, apolitical, unfair and undemocratic. Their actions have left a big question for democratic and peace loving Nigerians: Are they are qualified to be a national party.?”
