AFCON: Nigeria Book Semi-Final Ticket As Senegal Sink Benin 1-0

Chukweze, second right, who opened scoring for Nigeria in the 27th, celebrates with team mates

A last minute drama crafted by Ahmed Musa substitute, Moses Simon through a corner kick which missed the punch of South African goalie, Ronwen Williams allowing William Troost-Ekong to score was the final but joyous goal that fly the Super Eagles into semi-finals at the ongoing African Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt.

The Bafana Bafana boys had sprung a surprise equalizer in the 71st min through a header by Bongane Zungu, which canceled a 27th min lead by Nigerian’s Samuel Chukweze.

But the kill-joy was not to last as the Super Eagles kept mounting the pressure which yielded the 89th min clincher, just five minutes away to go into extra time.

With this victory, Nigeria joins Senegal, another semi-finalist, which beat Benin 1-0 in their game played before the Nigeria South Africa clash.
