Abia State Commissioner for Sports, Martins Okoji has ordered the contractor re-grassing Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, Monimechelle, to ensure the completion of the job before January 14, 2018.

Okoji stated this during an inspection visit to the stadium, saying completing the job would prepare the stadium for the take-off of the 2018 Nigerian Professional League season scheduled to take start on that date.

He noted with satisfaction the quality of materials the contractor had procured for the job, adding that the ministry would cooperate with it to ensure quality and its timely completion.

Regretting that the delay in completing the job led Enyimba International FC to be playing their home matches away from Aba for two years now, he noted that the situation was no longer acceptable.

The commissioner, who was accompanied by top management staff of the ministry, maintained that the job was dear to the hearts of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and the people of the state.

Conducting the commissioner and the staff around, the Chief Executive Officer of the firm, Ebi Egbe said with fixing of geo-pitch at the stadium, it is expected to have one of the best playing tuff in the country.

According to him the delay in completing the job had necessitated its contract variation and commended the understanding of the government over the delay.
