Abia Speaker, Hon Chinedum Orji
The Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Orji has donated relief materials to members of his constituency as palliatives for the COVID-19 lockdown of the state.
Handing over the items to leaders of the beneficiaries in Umuahia, the state capital, Orji appealed to them to ensure their equitable distribution to avoid rancour and disagreements among them.
Represented by the clerk of the House, Sir John Pedro Irokansi, he solicited their continued support and cooperation for him to continue to provide them with quality representative.
The lawmaker representing Umuahia Central State Constituency, therefore used the period to reiterate his conviction that by God’s grace, the pandemic would soon become a thing of the past.
He urged them to continue to observe the practices of regular hand washing, use of sanitizer, social distancing and obeying government directives on the fight against the pandemic.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Livinus Ndudim, Pastor Goddy Ibekwe, and Alhaji Sani Usman assured that the items will be fairly distributed among them.
Some of the over 70 beneficiaries include Christian denominations and Mosques, the Abia State Specialist Hospital and Diagnostic Centre, Amacahara.
Others are the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) chapel, Umuahia, and St Vincent De Paul Centre for the Mentally and Physically Challenged, Umuafai Ndume.
The rest are the School for the Blind, Afara, Agape Charity Home for Children, Ubakala, and Motherless Babies Home, Ahiaeke among others.
