AK-47 Saga: Wike, Fintiri Reconcile Warring Mohammed, Ortom

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers on state on Tuesday brokered peace between his warring counterparts from Bauchi and Benue state, Governor Bala Mohammed and Samuel Ortom at Government House in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

Both governors who are of the opposition People Democratic Party, embraced after a truce, which followed the intervention of the leaders of the party.

Both Ortom and Mohammed had clashed publicly over herdsmen killings across the nation.

Mohammed defended the herdsmen bearing AK-47 rifles, saying they do so for self-protection from cattle rustlers. But Ortom disagreed with the Mohammed for allegedly supporting criminality and labelled him a “terrorist governor”.

Along with his Adamawa State counterpart, Ahmadu Fintiri, Wike met with the two governors in Port Harcourt on Tuesday and initiated reconciliation efforts.
