South East zone National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Emeka Enukwu has said that the party has zoned the Senate President in 2019 to the zone.

Enukwu stated this at the declaration of Amobi Ogah to run for Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency in the 2019 general election on the platform of the party at Mbala Isuikwuato.

He said the resolution is aimed at ensuring the occupation of the office by a member from the zone as the presidency and vice presidency remains in North East and South West zones respectively.

He argued that it was a good thing that one of the leaders of the party in the state, former Abia governor Orji Uzor Kalu is running for Abia North Senatorial District on the platform of party.

“A vote for the former governor, who from all indications has paid his dues as  a through-bred politician would go along way in assuring the attainment of the resolution,” Enukwu said.

Similarly, the former governor said the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had failed the state hence the need for the people to vote for the APC at all levels in the election.

He said since he left office over 13 years ago, nothing seems to be working in the state again just as the people had been groaning under severe economic hardship.

According to him, “Since that time, the governments have been failing in payment of salaries, pensions and gratuities when due and delivering of other basic and social services.”

In his declaration, Ogah decried the performance of the present member representing the constituency at the National Assembly, saying the time to change situation had come.

Ogah, who said he grew the party from obscurity to limelight in the constituency, appealed to both the party and the constituents to entrust the challenge of redressing the situation to his care.
